i used to listen to "The Great Escape" album everyday on my junior high and then high school years. this song became one of my favorites because of its catchy tune. i still remember the lyrics well. i used to find it ironic and funny, and i pitied the man in the song. he's "caught up in the rat race", "the century's anxiety" and yes "it preys on him."
the video is very humorous as well, it pictured the song literally with all the silly elements of comedy. but now as i listen to the song, i feel somewhat nervous. i could almost feel the resemblance of "the man" and me in some ways. i AM caught up in the rat race, and i am bland.
*sigh*
"blow, blow me out i am so sad i don't know why...."
